Organizational Leadership
Since our beginnings in 2018, our community has thrived on the collective power of thousands of caring individuals and groups who build, donate, and advocate together to make physical, measurable changes in the lives of our neighbors who need shelter. More than 115,000 volunteer hours have made possible what we have accomplished so far! (Fall, 2025) Currently, the following people also serve in organizational roles to help keep us moving forward toward sheltering every homeless neighbor who wants one, in a warm, safe, and dry tiny home.
Our Board Members are all volunteers and are also all builders at The Hope Factory:
- David Means – Board President
- Mark Horowitz – Board Treasurer
- Ruth Miller – Board Secretary
- Beatrice VanTulder – Board Member
- Tom Lennon – Board Member & supply chain expert
Our Staff are paid full or part time to help keep operations running, and are also all builders at The Hope Factory:
- Steve Roberts – Director of Operations
- Liz Thayer – Volunteer Coordinator
- Andrew Buchanan – Development Director
Our Volunteer Team Leaders (the “green-tapers”!) are several dozen regular, experienced volunteers who donate their time to supervising our daily building crews, six days per week, making sure that our homes are built to the same high-quality standards, safely and efficiently, every time.
And finally, we wouldn’t be where we are without the many years of effort and determination of our co-founder and Director of Operations Emerita, Barb Oliver. Thank you Barb, and we wish you well!
